Eight Cree XPG LEDs behind our own custom optic allowing user selectable beam angles provide you with eight different intensity levels with a light output of up to 2000 measured lumens.
Dual sequence operation simplifies and facilitates mode selection. RACE sequence offers the highest of the power levels with an emphasis on light output. TRAIL sequence offers flash mode and the more economical power levels including selectable beam distribution: spot or flood.
Burn time with the standard 5200mAh battery pack ranges from 1:15 hours in maximum, to over 16:00 hours in ultra low.
Battery condition, operational sequence and power level are displayed on the LCD screen enabling more accurate battery management. The three-colour backlit display glows a subtle HOPE green in race sequence; mellow orange in trail sequence; and fiery red as the lamp warns you of a low battery voltage.
All the components that make up the R8 system had to be overhauled to ensure they were up to the job of handling the increased power. The power connectors now feature upgraded gold plated pins and a new improved waterproof over moulding to maintain a constant power supply to the lamp. The 5200mAh G2 battery pack, new for 2011/2012, allows the lamp to operate comfortably in the higher power levels whilst also improving performance at lower temperatures. The R8 is non-compatible with existing 2600mAh and 5200mAh battery packs.
